At 0-4 months, babies have weak and undeveloped neck muscles. Only use carrying positions that support your baby’s neck and head. Baby should be in an upright position with chin up, face visible and nose and mouth free.

You may use your carrier in the front in facing position without any additional accessory purchase required. The optional cradle carry position requires the líllébaby infant cradle insert.

AGE 4-6 MONTHS

As baby’s neck muscles strengthen, you will have more carrying options. You baby may be facing forward when she can strongly support her head. The age for this developmental stage is individual. For all facing in positions use wide seat setting once your baby is comfortable sitting with the feet on each side of your waist (normally close to 6 months); use the narrow seat prior to this stage.

AGE 6 MONTHS AND OLDER

At 6 months some babies are comfortable wrapping their feet around their parent and are ready to be carried on the parents back. Always use the wide seat for the hip and back positions as it gives better balance.

AGE 12 MONTHS and Up (to 42 lb)

The timing for discontinuing front carrier positions depends on baby’s weight and your physical strength and comfort. Hip carrier and back carrier positions allow you to carry heavier weight and are recommended for older/heavier babies.
